Messaging¶
myblueboard has two ways to reach people, and they're good at different things.
myEmail — under myMessenger in the sidebar — sends email to groups or individuals. It lands in an inbox, it can carry attachments and a banner, and it's the right tool for anything people need to keep or refer back to.
myChat — under myChat — is real-time conversation. Faster, lighter, better for back-and-forth, and it reaches phones through the mobile app.
Guides¶
- Sending email — groups, individuals, banners and attachments
- Email delivery and logs — bounces, the suppression list, opting people out
- Using myChat — conversations, attachments and reactions
- Group chats — chats built from a group, and the options that control them
Which to use¶
| Situation | Use |
|---|---|
| Trip itinerary, fee reminder, anything with a document | |
| "Bus is 20 minutes late" | myChat |
| Something families must be able to find in three weeks | |
| A question you need answered today | myChat |
| Announcement to a whole section | Either — chat gets read sooner, email gets kept |
Email is a record. Chat is a conversation. Sending a permission deadline only by chat means it's scrolled past by Thursday.
Who can send¶
Email requires the send emails permission. Directors have it by default; parents and other accounts need it granted per person — see Sending email.
myChat is open to everyone, but with an important limit: people without myChat Admin Access can only start conversations with directors. Students and parents can't message each other, and can't start group chats. See Using myChat.
