Using myChat

myChat is real-time messaging inside myblueboard. Open it from myChat in the sidebar, or use the mobile app.

Messages are kept — a conversation is still there next season.

Who you can message

This is the part worth understanding, because it's a deliberate restriction rather than a limitation.

Without myChat Admin Access, you can only start conversations with directors. Students and parents can reach staff, and cannot start chats with each other.

With myChat Admin Access, you can message anyone, and create group chats.

So a student can ask a director a question, and a parent can reach the booster president if they're a director — but families can't use myChat to contact each other. For most programs that's exactly right.

myChat Admin Access is granted like any other group. Full Directors have it automatically; Staff Directors and parents need it granted — see Granting access.

Sending messages

Type and send. Messages appear immediately for everyone in the conversation, and push to phones through the mobile app when notifications are on.

You can edit a message after sending; it's marked as edited so the change is visible rather than silent.

Read status

myChat tracks who has read each message, so you can tell whether an announcement actually landed before chasing it.

Attachments

Attach files up to 10 MB each, and up to 50 MB total per message.

Allowed types:

Category Extensions
Images .jpg .jpeg .png .gif
Documents .pdf .doc .docx .xls .xlsx .txt
Video .mp4 .mov

Anything else is rejected. If you need to share a file type that isn't listed, link to it instead.

Video hits the 10 MB limit quickly — a short clip from a phone is often larger than that. Trim it, or share a link.

Reactions

React to a message with one of ten reactions: ❤️ 👍 👎 😂 😮 😢 😡 🎉 🔥 👏

One reaction per person per message — reacting again replaces your previous one.

Reactions are genuinely useful for logistics: 👍 on "can everyone confirm they've seen the pickup time" gives you a count without twenty replies.

Chat or email?

Use myChat when the answer is needed today, or when a short back-and-forth beats a thread of email. Use email when it needs to be findable later.

A schedule change belongs in both: chat so people see it now, email so they can look it up.
